Spring’s Splendor

Setting the Spring tone and sitting down to collect all of these joyful thoughts and feelings. With the sun now coming out at noon or more than twice a week and temperatures rising the germination process has begun!

I've been going on some trail runs and walking around my neighborhood beaming at the snowdrops, hellebore, hyacinth, and reappearing green.

Though the trails are still muddy and it’s still to early to directly sow any of my seeds, I can’t help but frolic through the woods and start planting seeds indoors to get a head start. Then I will transplant outside after they have had time to harden off so they don't get taken out by the first frost… which is typically mid may here in Michigan. This year they are predicting May 15th!

I suggest getting inspired by nature and shopping for your seeds now. Also researching natives to increase our local biodiversity. This may be a bold statement, but seed shopping has even surpassed thrift shopping for me. Getting to find that one variety or specific color pigment and waiting to see everything from what the leaves may be and soon enough, the flower itself. Something you thoughtfully sourced, sowed and can now care for.

With a large greenhouse setup currently in my apartment bedroom and some cheap grow lights, I've never been so in love with Spring.

To witness these seeds grow in front of me is one of the most humbling and rewarding things.

I've killed many with too much and not enough attention already as they require care every 24 hours. This week I've been willing to embrace the mud, take to the trails in order to show me how to let loose and worship the earth. Everytime I leave, I’m honestly reminded of who I am and the importance of the growth and  growing things. Also, just seeing gardener snakes and squirrels chase each other inspires me to be more grounded, honest, and almost ravenous. We are wild and made in the face of nature. Spring reminds us to do what feels natural and level up with all that we are. Nature never hides. It grows in its own time.

I’m thankful for spring and all of it's Splendor!
